What is Precision Driving?
In Hollywood, "Precision Drivers" are the conservative cousin of the Stunt Driver and utilize proven techniques to operate a vehicle safely in challenging conditions ... repeatedly.
The typical assignment: hit assigned marks dictated by the Director/Stunt Coordinator: do not hit the cameras, other vehicles, actors, dancers, animals, heroes, villains, zombies, aliens, ninjas, or monsters ... the fun part is the energy required given the narrative ...
Do it EXACTLY the same EVERY SINGLE TIME ...
You must be generally capable of operating any vehicle under any conditions with little notice. Be able to quickly assess if the vehicle is in good working order ... engine/tires/brakes/suspension acceptable? fluid levels? tire pressure? inspected? how does it run? KNOW THE VEHICLE ...
Next, scout the driving locations ... city, town, rural? ALWAYS drive the route before ... whether filming a big scene or attending an important personal event, always AVOID surprises at all costs ...
